OCEAN COLORS ART
Bonnielynn Brankey is a renowned fine artist and muralist working from her
studio in Bristol,Wisconsin.
After getting scuba certified in 1991, she found the world wears a different
face below the surface of the sea.
Bonnielynn's art focuses primarily on depicting the world as seen by an avid
scuba diver. Her marine art celebrates life in the sea. She hopes to draw
attention to the health and survival of our oceans for future generations to
enjoy. The brightly colored watercolor and oil paintings in her Ocean Colors
art collection are a result of her need to express the wonders she sees
underwater. She believes 'style' is a relative term and has developed one
which allows her to most freely "recreate" the underwater world she loves.
Painting techniques vary depending on her emotional connection with the
subject matter. Her marine paintings are popular among collectors, as the
colors within them have universal appeal.
Hailing from the Midwest makes it difficult to remember what she has seen
while diving tropical waters, so to strengthen her art she uses a Nikonos V
underwater camera to give her visual references to transfer later onto canvas or
watercolor paper. To keep the images fresh, she will sometimes make little
sketches on the dive boat with a portable watercolor kit she packs as part of
her dive gear.
When not painting underwater fishes and tropical landscapes from the exotic
places she has visited, she will paint what she calls "My Artistic
Wanderings",....scenes from her travels to Montana, Alaska and rural
Wisconsin.
Bonnielynn exhibits her work at Antioch Fine Arts Foundation, juried art
shows and festivals and scuba trade shows around the country. Private
collections of her paintings are in Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, Minnesota, and
Washington. Her work can also be seen as murals in local dive shops, dental
clinics as well as other public buildings and private residences in Wisconsin and
Illinois.
Bonnielynn has a degree in fine art as well as has taken workshops from well
known artists.
Bonnielynn is an adventure seeker by nature. She invites challenge and
conquest. She hopes she can make a difference by increasing awareness and
educating through her art the delicate balance that exists between our lives with
that of the oceans.
